Yes. Drivers must have a valid government-issued driver’s license.

You can drive on public roads with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less. Our rentals are restricted to the downtown and uptown historic area for safety.

No. Driving on beaches, sidewalks, and bike paths is strictly prohibited.

You may not cross the Vilano Bridge. It is too steep. We do not recommend crossing the Bridge of Lions for your safety unless your hotel is located on the other side. The bridge is steep and traffic becomes too fast.

Yes. All our rental carts are registered, street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) with seatbelts and headlights.

Carts must park in legal, marked automotive parking spaces. You must pay normal city parking fees if parking in a metered space.

Yes. Florida law requires proof of an active auto insurance policy to operate a street-legal LSV.
SCOOTER, MOPED, & E-BIKE RENTAL FAQS

No. For scooters under 50cc, a standard Class E driver’s license is perfectly legal in Florida.

Renters must be at least 18, or 16 if supervised at all times by a parent or guardian.

No. Insurance is not required on a scooter in the State of Florida, but is recommended.

We have the largest scooter training area in St. Augustine, and have trained over 100k people how to ride since 1999. You may cancel your rental if you are not comfortable after training.

No. They are provided for free and recommended, but not required for ages 16 and up in Florida.

Helmets are required for riders under 16 and highly recommended for everyone. We provide them for free.

Yes. Eye protection is required and provided for free if needed. Sunglasses are acceptable during the daytime.

Anywhere legally permitted in the City of St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach, and Vilano Beach. They are not permitted on the beach, sand, mud, or water.

Scooters can go anywhere cars go, except high-speed highways, interstates, and pedestrian-only zones. Our scooters are allowed downtown, uptown, and the St. Augustine beach area, but not on the beach. You may cross the Bridge of Lions.

Our 49cc scooters have a top speed of roughly 30 to 35 mph.

Starting At $80 + Refundable Damage Deposit
Slingshot rental prices start at just $80 for a 1-hour ride, making it easy to enjoy a quick thrill around St. Augustine.
Planning a longer adventure? The more hours you rent, the more you save! A 4-hour rental is $180, perfect for cruising scenic A1A or exploring nearby beach spots.
For the ultimate experience, opt for a full-day (8-hour) rental at $250 and make the most of your day in this head-turning ride.

$250 Per 2-Seater Slingshot
$500 Per 4-Seater Slingshot
A damage deposit hold is required at check-in—$250 for 2-seaters and $500 for 4-seaters—and must be placed on a credit or debit card (no cash accepted).
This will show as a “pending” charge, and we release it within 48 hours after a safe return.
While most guests see the hold drop within 24 hours, some banks may take 5–7 business days.
If any damage occurs, repair costs will be deducted from your deposit. Just follow your guide’s safety tips, and you’ll be in the clear!

Height Requirements Must Be Met
Are kids allowed in a Polaris Slingshot? Yes—but there are important safety requirements.
According to Polaris guidelines, children must be able to sit fully back in the seat with their feet flat on the floor. This usually means kids around 5 years or older, though height is the key factor.
Car seats and booster seats are not allowed, so please ensure your child meets these criteria.
Florida law requires that passengers under 21 wear helmets (which we provide), and eye protection is also mandatory—sunglasses work great and are available for purchase at check-in if needed.

Eye Protection
Fuel is not included. Renters are responsible for replacing whatever fuel is used during their ride.
Please return the vehicle filled with 93 premium fuel only to avoid additional charges.
Don’t forget your shades! Eye protection is legally required in Florida. Sunglasses are fine, and we’ve got extras for sale if you need a pair at check-in.

We closely monitor the forecast and will reach out if rain looks likely to impact your ride. If we contact you with a weather concern, you’ll have the option to reschedule or receive a refund.
⚠️ However, if you choose to proceed despite our warning, no refund or credit will be issued if the rain affects your experience.
